February Pullips: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Pre-orders are now open (and start just over $100) for the two known Pullips that are to be released from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series (NGE).
“I was born to ride Eva, I have nothing else — Feel like so.”
Rei comes with Longinus which is one of the more elaborate Pullip accessories I’ve seen in a while. The only change I can see from the protoype is that her hair has gone from dusty blue to electric dusty blue, and her eyes have lost some of the reddish tint.

“I know. I have no choice but to ride Eva…I never want to endure defeat again! — Feel like so.”
Next up is Asuka Langley Soryu who seems to have the slightly opened mouth that Jun Planning debuted with Haute, exciting! I’m actually looking forward to seeing how these are executed. It seems that JP expects these Pullips to be very popular and to sell out, so if you are foaming at the mouth over them as you read it might not be a bad idea to get on that pre-order, since the price will definitely be raised on release.

[...] 17, 2007 I blogged about the upcoming Pullip and Dal releases in much more detail on Dolly Culture, but I had to write about Cinnamoroll here, [...]
It sounds like I would have preferred the prototype rei! Her hair is too bright and dark and her eyes should be redder. There’s something eerie about characters being turned into pullips though.
I’m not a huge fan of Pullip’s faces (although I find Dal’s irresistibly sweet) and they could never look enough like the cartoons to be anything more than a pullip doll in elaborate dress up.
I suppose if somebody loved pullip and loved NGE they might like them but I think even if Blythe were releasing these rather than Pullip I would still find it unsettling.
@ elysia: The changes they made for Rei are a bit strange, I admit, since they seem to put her further from the anime series character which I think would alienate a lot of the more extreme NGE fans.
I do think the Pullip proportions work well for anime adaptions though, Blythe (I think) can and should only be Blythe!
You sure are right about the proportions! They are exactly like anime girls.
